3-Phase Overvoltage Protector

This product belongs to a series of gapless surge arresters designed primarily to protect the phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground insulation of high-voltage electrical equipment—rated at 35 kV and below—from damage caused by switching overvoltages and atmospheric overvoltages. Such equipment includes motors, transformers, parallel compensation capacitors, switchgear, cables, electric furnaces, power station distribution systems, rectification equipment, generators, electrolytic cells, and other electrical apparatus. By effectively limiting the magnitude of overvoltages to a level below the insulation withstand strength of the equipment, this product safeguards the insulation integrity and ensures the safe operation of the electrical system. While traditional surge arresters are capable of limiting overvoltages, they typically provide protection only between the phase and ground; they cannot inherently provide phase-to-phase protection. Achieving phase-to-phase overvoltage protection with traditional devices requires connecting two arresters in series, resulting in a residual voltage that is twice as high as the phase-to-ground residual voltage—a scenario detrimental to the protection of phase-to-phase insulation. In contrast, this company’s product series features a modular, combined design that effectively provides comprehensive insulation protection—covering both phase-to-ground and phase-to-phase scenarios—and effectively limits both switching overvoltages and atmospheric overvoltages. This product utilizes high-performance zinc oxide varistors, offering numerous advantages such as a high 2ms current impulse withstand capability, excellent volt-ampere characteristics, a low residual voltage ratio, and a high tolerance for 4/10 µs high-current surges; furthermore, it features appropriate operating voltage levels and ensures reliable performance.
