Discharge Counter for Surge Arresters

  • A discharge counter for surge arresters is an electrical device connected in series with the arrester’s ground terminal to record the number of times the arrester has operated. It is utilized with metal-oxide arresters (MOAs) and valve-type arresters rated at 220 kV and below to enhance the operational reliability of the arresters and the power supply quality of the system; its operating environment is identical to that of the surge arrester itself.
