Microprocessor-based Resonance Eliminator (with Printer)

  • In power systems, ferroresonance occurs frequently; during resonance, it generates overvoltages that pose a serious threat to system safety. Ferroresonant overvoltages can occur in any system ranging from 3 kV to 220 kV; this is particularly true in power grids rated at 35 kV and below, where almost all internal overvoltage incidents are caused by ferroresonance. The overvoltages induced by ferroresonance are long-lasting and may even persist for extended periods. During sub-harmonic resonance, the overvoltage magnitude is generally not high; however, the current flowing through the Potential Transformer (PT) is substantial, making the PT susceptible to overheating and subsequent explosion. Conversely, during fundamental-frequency and super-harmonic resonance, the current is typically low, but the resulting overvoltage is extremely high, frequently causing damage to equipment insulation and leading to severe accidents.
